The benefit of installing a window properly is long term energy efficiency and functionality that offers a great return on your investment. Although vinyl -aluminum-fiberglass windows come in many sizes, shapes, and styles, we always use our own effective 10 step installation process.
Step 1: Preparation and Protection: Protecting your property is most important to us. We lay down cardboard & moving pads to protect your floors, drape furniture, it will catch unexpected falling debris.
Step 2: Extraction: Removing the old glass is our #1 key safety concern! We take our time to heat up the old sealant and extract each piece of glass one piece at a time using putty knives & special glazing suction cups. All our competitors use glass gutters and X out the glass real fast and break out each glass to speed up the removal process, which leave small glass shards fly everywhere. So, you will find broken glass in your flower beds and carpets you years to come. We are known for Clean, Quality, not Speed.
Step 3: Remove Window Components: This includes cutting the caulking, and removing the balancing system, operable sash, and the horizontal locking bar.
Step 4: Extract Frame: Properly using a special extraction lever and a flat bar to remove the old main frame dramatically minimizes any damage to the existing sheetrock finish & brick wall.
Step 5: Clean & Prepare Opening: We make sure the opening is completely clear of any debris such as old mortar, caulking, nails, and insulation. Then we vacuum to clean up all the smaller particles.
Step 6: Set Your New Window in place: Once the old window is removed, we are now ready to place-install the new one. Our in-house Cambridge Team will align the window squarely in the opening using cedar shims, then attach the window to the structure of the house or business.
Step 7: Insulate Around the Exterior of The Frame: Our Industrial foaming gun with a fine needlepoint end allows us to get into some of the smallest openings with the expanding windows foam insulation and water barrier.
Step 8: Clean Window: While the foam is expanding, The Cambridge Team will clean the glass and frame.
Step 9: Apply Sealant Adhesive: The sealant is the first line of defense against wind, rain, and other harsh elements. We use a sealant/adhesive to provide the best long-term protection.
Step 10: Clean the Job-site: The #1 thing our customers remember about the installation is how our crews always clean up after themselves and leave the job site cleaner than we found it.
Remember, we never use subcontractors that are paid by the piece and overlook the minor details to make more money. When you hire Cambridge Doors & Windows you are choosing a company with well-trained company employees to do the installation right the first time. This is for your peace of mind and a lifelong investment in your home.
